Singaporean actress and TV host Fiona Xie has resigned from Mediacorp, sparking marriage/pregnancy rumours.

With Mediacorp’s dominance, quitting the company is as good as quitting Singaporean showbiz altogether.

Naturally, wild speculations will slip in when an artist decided to quit at her prime without explanations… marriage, pregnancy or breakup are among those, but pretty much baseless at the moment.

A probable reason is that Fiona is seeking opportunities overseas. Hollywood is a possible destination; but is she good enough to go west? That’s another question to ponder.

Regardless, wish her well in her future endeavours, whatever it’s going to be.

Rumours are flying around that Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi and billionaire boyfriend Vivi Nevo are separated for around two months.

Rumours of their separation began in April when it was revealed that the couple has delayed their August wedding indefinitely, with Ziyi’s working schedule cited as the major reason.

The couple had kept a high profile relationship since seeing each other in 2007, but was not spotted together in public events for the past few months while Ziyi was busy filming her latest film Sophie Revenge.

In the past Vivi Nevo would pay Ziyi some visits even if she was working, but not the case here. It’s also said that he is not attending the movie premier (next week if not mistaken), which if true could be a huge indicator of their relationship.

Some netizens are speculating that the saga is a disguised promotion for the new movie, but I think Zhang Ziyi is famous enough to not need this stuff for publicity.

Rumours will remain as rumours until proven; but it’s rare that tabloids are pounding on the same old news for months without having decent sources to fuel their speculations… and quite often these rumours would turn factual in the end.

Japanese actor Hiro Muzushima, 25, and singer-songwriter Ayaka, 21, have tied the knots on February 22nd, revealed the couple at a press conference in Tokyo on Friday. Japanese video below - the couple making the marriage announcement…

Hiro and Ayaka met each other in June 2008 during a magazine interview. There are speculations that it was a shotgun marriage because of the speedy wedding, but the couple denied the pregnancy rumour.

It was further revealed that Ayaka is suffering from an autoimmune disease and is taking a break from the entertainment industry, which is one of the reasons for their marriage as Hiro would like to take good care of her [via Unleashthegeek]

Taiwanese celebrity couple Harlem Yu and Annie Yi have ended their nine-years marriage after months of speculations. The ex-couple issued separate statement on March 20th to announce their divorce.

It’s a pity to see them splitting; they had been one of Taiwan’s most celebrated celebrity couple… in relationship for more than a decade before walking the aisle on Valentine’s Day in 2000.

Their marriage was in jeopardy in late 2008 when Annie was spotted holding hands with another guy in Beijing. It seemed like the couple was trying to rescue the marriage after that, but obviously fruitless in the end.

Most of the public voices are sympathising Harlem; but I think the public is being too harsh on Annie, as there were hints that their relationship was already heading to the wrong direction since two-three years ago…

Annie has been spending most of her time in China for the past few years building her career while Harlem focusing on his in Taiwan; obviously there’s already something wrong with the marriage then… and it’s a matter of time before something finally triggered the end of the relationship.

The divorce are done rather peacefully though; there’s not much financial conflicts as they are both financially independent, and their six-year-old kid will be under Harlem’s custody with Annie granted (probably limitless) visiting rights.

Japanese police announced Wednesday (Feb 4) that the cause of death of TV personality Ai Iijima was pneumonia; and ruled out any foul play in the case.

The former porn star turned TV personality and best selling writer was found dead in her house in late December, but her body was decayed and initial autopsy failed to determine the cause.

Rumours had been flying around that she committed suicide for various reasons; and there were speculations that she was murdered instead. Seems like Iijima’s soul can finally be put to rest now.

Ai Iijima was one of the most popular adult video idols in early 90s; she later turned into mainstream TV shows and made her breakthrough in 2000 with her semi-autobiographical novel “Platonic Sex”.

She continued to build on the novels’ popularity and became a regular TV personality; she also started actively involving in AIDS awareness campaigns.

Iijima announced her retirement in March 2007, stating health reasons, which unfortunately taken its toll in the end. Rest in peace.
